MTA Subway Posters ✿˖°

I created a campaign for the MTA Subway system that uses photograph collections from the 1940s to 1970s to showcase the unique lifestyle and culture of New York City’s public transit users.

Images were taken from the New York Public Library's Photography Archive Collection, from the collection "New York Subways (1977-1979)" taken by Alen MacWeeny, and an unsorted collection (1940-1979) by Morris Huberland.

With this project, I used a flatbed scanner to warp and shape the images to exaggerate their movement. As subway cars move side to side and people are constantly on the go to their next station, I highlighted these movements by tracing outlines and using color. These photographs were then designed as digital advertisements in subway stations.
